In accordance with the Older Americans Act, the Maryland Department of Aging is required to develop and implement a State Plan on Aging to provide a state framework for activities related to programs, activities, and services for older adults. The implementation of the upcoming state plan will begin on October 1, 2016 and be carried out until September 30, 2020.

MDoA created and carried out a process which solicited input from the entire spectrum of stakeholders – department staff, consumers of services, caregivers, professionals, and anyone who had an interest in the future of aging services. The department convened internal workgroups, released a draft state plan, and held four Town Hall meetings throughout the state to hear testimony on that plan. Additionally, Maryland residents and other stakeholders were able to submit feedback on the draft plan through an online survey, via email, and regular mail.
